Secret Santa pays off layaway tab for 23 Avon Walmart customers
(December 19) Lorain Chronicle-Telegram — Secret Santa took on new meaning Saturday at Walmart, where an anonymous benefactor paid about $8,800 in layaway bills for 23 customers.

AmTrust Financial plans expansion in Downtown Cleveland

But the company, based in Brooklyn, is still being coy about whether it will renovate its longtime headquarters or build new offices in another Cleveland suburb.

Eight communities in Portage receive energy conservation funding
(January 13) Ravenna Record-Courier - The Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council has awarded energy conservation grants totaling $535,371 to eight Portage County communities. The grants will be used to make energy efficient improvements to public facilities and systems.

The Cleveland Foodbank gets a $100,000 donation
(January 12) WTAM Cleveland - The Cleveland Foodbank accepted a check from Wal-Mart in the amount of $100-thousand. That money will be used for the Children's Nutrition Initiative which is made up of several programs including the Kidscafe where at-risk youth at community centers are provided a daily meal and nutrition education.

Communities get NOPEC funding
(January 7) Ashtabula Star-Beacon - The Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council has handed out another $229,000 to more Ashtabula County communities for a variety of energy-saving projects.

Lake Communities get NOPEC grants
(January 6) Lake County News-Herald -- Five Lake County communities will receive grants as part of the continuing effort to increase energy efficiency in Northeast Ohio. The grants, totaling $609,150, come from FirstEnergy Corp. as part of an agreement reached with the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council last year.
